Each year at planting time, the stakes are high.
Seed is a big expense. If you plant too much seed, you’re wasting dollars. Plus, your yields can suffer if plants are competing against one another.

Because drills meter by volume and seed is planted by weight, the only way to be sure you’re seeding at the right rate is to calibrate your drill.
But until recently, calibrating a seed drill was a time-consuming process which includes counting seeds dropped over a certain area – and needed to be repeated for each new variety or seed size.
Calibration Problem Solved
Installing a scale system on your drill makes calibration simple.
“The scale’s giving you the ability to basically calibrate the entire time you’re seeding,” said Ag Systems Technology Instructor Nicholas Uilk from South Dakota State University.
Using a drill scale dramatically increases efficiency and ensures that you’re not planting too much or too little.
And when commodity prices are low and seed costs are high, like they are today, every bit of accuracy and savings helps.
